Methods of Giving to the Ram Club

Cash Donations

Cash or checks are always acceptable. Gifts are receipted and acknowledged by the Colorado State University Foundation and the Athletic Department. Visa and MasterCard are also accepted.

Matching Gifts

Many companies will match your gifts to support scholarships at Colorado State University. Please consult the benefits office at your place of employment. You may be eligible to double or triple the value of your gift and benefits. Your initial gift must be in by June 1, but the matching gift may be completed throughout the year.

Gifts in Kind

Contributions of product, merchandise, equipment or services are often provided in support of the athletic program. Credit toward membership is based on the fair market value of the exchange involved. Gifts of real property and securities are acceptable and may provide some tax advantages for you as a donor. Please consult your tax adviser.

Estate Gifts

Gifts through wills and bequests can provide you with benefits and opportunities to sustain your family name through endowed scholarships with the Colorado State University Foundation. Benefits on these gifts are evaluated on an individual case basis.

Tax Information

Under applicable provisions of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) the amount of a contribution that is deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes is limited to the excess amount contributed over the value of any goods or services provided to the donor by Colorado State University.

The IRC provides that 80 percent of an amount paid to or for the benefit of an institution of higher education shall be treated as a charitable contribution if, as a result of the payment, the donor receives the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event in a stadium at the institution. Please consult your tax adviser to determine whether these provisions apply to you.
